Privacy Policy

Inspiration  ·  iOS  ·  Effective date: 20 May 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Inspiration ("we," "us") handles information when you use our mobile app Inspiration (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and to describing our practices in clear language, including how data may be linked to you and how third-party advertising and measurement work where applicable. We aim to comply with applicable data protection laws.

If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the App.

2. Information we process

Depending on how you use the App, the following may be processed. Some items are processed only on your device; others are sent to our service providers or infrastructure as described below.

2.1 Account, subscriptions, and purchases

  • Subscription and purchase information. We use RevenueCat and Apple's in-app purchase system to process subscriptions, verify entitlements, and restore purchases. This can include product identifiers, subscription status, and related transaction data needed to run paid features.
  • Anonymous user id for purchases. To associate your subscription and entitlements with your App installation, we use an anonymous user identifier issued by Firebase Authentication as the RevenueCat app user id. This is a technical id generated by Firebase and used internally by our backend and RevenueCat; it is not your Apple ID, iCloud name, or email address. iCloud sync of your in-app data is handled separately by Apple (see section 2.4) and we do not use your Apple account to identify you for purchases.
  • We do not require you to create a separate "Inspiration" account with a password for core App use.

2.2 App functionality, AI features, and fair use (limits)

  • Authentication token (anonymous). For features that use our online services (for example, AI-assisted recipe features), the App may use Firebase Authentication to create or use an anonymous user id and obtain a short-lived credential. That id helps our servers recognize requests from a legitimate App instance and to apply per-user limits (for example, how many recipe generations you may use in a time window).
  • Usage and limits. We may process counters or similar technical records tied to that anonymous id (or a related server-side id) to enforce those limits, prevent abuse, and keep the service reliable. This is part of operating the feature, not selling your data.
  • Request content. To generate responses, the content you send for processing is transmitted to our backend and, where applicable, to AI providers as needed to perform the service. We use this only to provide the feature and to operate, secure, and improve the service; we do not use it to sell a database of your recipes to others.

2.3 Security, integrity, and device signals

  • App integrity and abuse prevention. We use Firebase App Check and related technologies so our servers can verify that requests are coming from a genuine, unmodified build of the App, which helps reduce fraud and automated abuse.
  • Device-related signals. This may include device-level or environment signals as described by Apple and Google in their DeviceCheck / attestation and token documentation, used for security and app integrity—not to sell a contact list of "your devices" for unrelated marketing.
  • "Linking". For clarity: linking here means that certain ids or usage records may be associated with the same app installation, anonymous account, or subscription profile so we can process purchases, run features, and enforce limits. It does not mean we sell a commercial "profile" of you for general advertising by Inspiration outside this Policy.

2.4 iCloud, CloudKit, and your data on Apple's systems

  • Sync (Apple's responsibility). Some of your content (for example, recipes) may sync via iCloud and CloudKit when you are signed in to your Apple account. This sync is entirely operated by Apple as part of their platform services and governed by your Apple account settings — we do not control, observe, or operate it. We do not receive your Apple ID, email, or name through this relationship, and we do not use your Apple account as an identifier for our own services.
  • Data on device. Data stored locally or in your private iCloud/CloudKit container is under your control through your device and Apple account.

2.5 Advertising (third party)

  • Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). The App may show third-party advertisements provided through Google's advertising network. AdMob and its partners may process device identifiers (such as advertising-related ids where permitted and after any required consent in your region), advertising and interaction data, and other technical data to show, measure, and personalize ads according to their policies and your choices (for example, via Google's ad privacy settings, limited ad tracking, or the consent flows shown in the App where we present them).
  • "Tracking" and business advertising. Under platform rules (for example, Apple's App Privacy labels), certain advertising and measurement activities may be described as used for tracking (linking your data with third parties for ad targeting or measurement in particular ways) where applicable and as defined by the platform. We rely on the integrated SDK and Google's tools to support regional requirements (such as the GDPR user messaging and UMP where implemented). We do not control all processing by ad networks, but we choose industry-standard providers and present consent or controls where the platform and SDK require.
  • We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not allow AdMob to use your data in ways that violate Google's and Apple's program rules as far as we can enforce through the SDK and App configuration.

2.6 Feedback, support, and contact

If you use in-app feedback or email us, we process the information you provide (and sometimes a technical id to reduce spam) to respond and to improve the App.

2.7 What we do not do

  • We do not use your data to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects in the sense of some privacy laws, beyond what is inherent in operating subscriptions and fair-use limits.
  • We are not a general social network: we do not publish your content to a public "feed by default" as part of this Policy.

3. How we use the information (summary)

  • To run the App — Subscriptions, sync, recipe storage, and core features.
  • To provide online and AI features — Back-end processing, limits, and abuse prevention.
  • To keep the App secure — Tokens, attestation, and fraud or abuse controls.
  • To show ads (where applicable) — Through AdMob, subject to your choices and platform settings.
  • To support you — When you contact us or use feedback.
  • To comply with law — If required, for example in response to valid legal requests.

We do not use the categories above to sell your personal information in the "data broker" sense.

4. Legal bases (where applicable)

If you are in a region (such as the EEA or UK) that requires a "legal basis," we rely on performance of a contract (providing the App and features you request), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, service improvement, and, where allowed, non-intrusive ads), and consent where required (for example, certain ad personalization or cookies-like id use), and to comply with legal obligations. You may have rights to object or withdraw consent where the law provides.

5. Sharing and subprocessors

We use service providers who process data on our behalf under agreements and, where required, the Standard Contractual Clauses or other mechanisms. Non-exhaustive examples:

  • Google (Firebase Authentication, Firebase App Check, Firestore, Google Mobile Ads, Google Cloud) — anonymous authentication, app integrity, server-side entitlement state, back-end hosting, and advertising.
  • RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management (using the Firebase anonymous user id as the RevenueCat app user id).
  • Apple — iCloud, CloudKit (sync operated by Apple), in-app purchase, and device platform services.

We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

6. International transfers

If you use the App from outside the country where our servers or providers are located, your information may be transferred to other countries, including the United States and EU/EEA regions, with appropriate safeguards as required by law.

7. Retention

  • Subscription and transaction records — As long as your subscription relationship exists and for a period afterward to handle disputes, taxes, and legal compliance.
  • Anonymous or technical ids and usage limits — For as long as needed to enforce limits, prevent abuse, and operate the service, then deleted or aggregated in line with our technical practices.
  • Advertising and logs held by Google — Governed by Google's retention as described in their policies.
  • Support messages — For a reasonable period to assist you, unless a longer period is required by law.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including transport encryption, access controls, and vendor review. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to reduce risk.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on your region, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent for consent-based uses. You may also control:

  • Apple settings for subscriptions, iCloud, and app tracking.
  • Ad personalization and privacy settings through Google and system controls where available.
  • In-App consent or ad privacy flows we display.

We may need to verify your request and may be unable to delete certain data we must keep for legal or security reasons.

Children. The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from such children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it as appropriate.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top will change, and we may notify you in the App (for example, on next launch) or by email for material changes if we have your contact details. Continued use of the App after the effective date of changes means you accept the updated Policy, to the extent permitted by law. If you do not agree, you should stop using the App and may delete it.
